So, is it normal that the low oil level warning comes out?
Also, my service advisor told me an oil change is necessary only when the warning comes out which is about every 15k miles. Is this true?
I would change the oil once a year, or at least every 7500 miles. BMW will pay for an oil change once a year if you don't put on enough miles.

Can you actually post a picture to show a dip stick? I have been looking everywhere and still couldn't find it. It doesn't even show on owner's manual. Thanks

BMW stopped putting dipsticks in newer models. You probably don't have one.

That is because it is a V8. I expect they will disappear before too long as well.

I got the message at 7000kms on run-in.
I added 1 litre (i get the feeling on the 4.8's, as i read above, that this may be a built in early alert until servicing resets after run-in)
All good, no issues, going in for an early service next week.

Thanks JCL,
Thanks for a reply. People kept saying that they have one so I have been looking for mine like crazy. Now I know for sure. Personally I don't reallly like the electronic level indicator. I would prefer it the old fashion way of pulling a dip stick. Take care.

The mechanic at BMW told me they eliminated the dipstick to help clean up emmissions.
