Off Topic spammer
If you are going to sell hitches, you should get a vendor account. Every one of your posts has been a sales pitch for this hitch. I checked the site, and it is $300 more than the OEM hitch complete with wiring harness. I'll take the much safer OEM hitch thanks.

Sorry for jacking your thread?
Well firstly I am not selling this hitch. Being an owner of 2 BMW's I find this product useful and BETTER than the westfalia which comes out of the rear of the bimmer VERY UGLY and is LESS than the OEM.
You are incorrect with the price of the OEM unless you received some sort of discount. Because when I purchased my vehicles I was quoted $1400 for the install (this was only for the receiver). I paid $775 installed including tax for a COMPLETE tow system for the X3. Also the OEM is not as strong as the one I purchased because the OEM hitch is only rated to DOT standards which is 1,500,000 impact cycles the Phantom is rated ECE DOT and SABS which is 2,000,000 from what I am to understand. You are again incorrect regarding the attachment of the OEM and the Phantom hitches. The OEM replaces the factory stiffners but is lower under the bumper. The Phantom replaces the stiffners and is lined up directly with the crumple zones to BMW specifications as if it were a BMW product. Given that is has assigned BMW part numbers I would suspect that it is as reliable as the OEM(just a guess)? I do not get it? I am new, I purchased a product that relects a practical use that alignes itself with this site and before I even decided to share my experience I read all these threads about a need for a hitch solution. So I shared my experiece. There is no sales pitch just my own personal experience because I own an X5 (X5 forum go figure) and a X3. I did multi posts because on some replies when I hit submit I did not see it at that time, as received. About pictures well I attempted to upload pics of my vehicle to show how kewl this product looks but the file was to big and would not allow me SO i mentioned the site so other members could see the product. My aopoligies if I somehow jacked your thread but all I am doing is sharing information which is what I thougt the premise of this site is about. You can use it or not. I have my solution and am complete satisfied. From what I have read on this forum in my OPINION others may find this info useful. BUT what do I know I just own 2 SAV's!!!!!!!!! |

Thanks for "SHARING" Hans,
How did you get that huge pic file to upload? My pics are no where near that big but the site said my file was to big. I only tow my race bikes in a 6X10 trailer. With your boat did you need a brake box with the concealed hitch system? Cheers |

Please note that Hans is also from Belgium and thus from europe!
There are towing hooks totally different and nothing is visible when the hook is removed! Additionally we don't have brakingsystems that require input from the vehicle (you call it a brake box). In europe heavy trailers have a thing between the trailer and the hook that is pushed together when the vehicle brakes and the trailers tries to keep moving. With that pressure the brakes of the trailer are also braking. Totally different looks between europe and USA but also different laws and techniques.
