About to dive in ... or drive in

I need some advice.

I was planning on buying a car by the end of the year but an opportunity presented itself that is making me think twice.

There is a 2007 4.8i X5 car for sale. The car is brand new (zero miles).

The question is, is it wise to buy a 2007 model? I know the design didn't change and basically it is the same car as the 2009 but not sure whether it is a clever move.

They are charging around 25% less then the brand new 2009 model with the same exact features.

Tell me what you think. I need to decide within the next 24 hours. Talk about a once in a life time opportunity

Sounds like a good deal, but where has it been for the last year?

It looks fully loaded and I would guess the sticker would be $68-$72k range. It looks like an amazing deal if you are planning to hold it for a long-term. But, if you are not, resale value will take a hit vs. a 2009 just because of older model year. Something to consider.

great deal...I love my 07 X5. The differenecs in 07 to 09 are not huge, other than the just announced redesign of the idrive and Google map functions, also the earlier 07's didnt have 6FL Ipod option, and now come w/ DVD changer up front. so if those are important and cost isnt an issue go w/ 09, otherwise this is a great deal.

25% discount will more than cover the depreciation from the 2009. Great deal I would go for it!

I'm not a mechanic or an expert but is there harm if the car is sitting there for over a year? Will it have any effect on the electrical, tires, oil, engine, etc?

A test drive is recommended.

Good question...no expert, but tires could be flat spotted, or have
sidewall cracks, gas is probably shot unless it had a product like
Stabil added and "run through" the injectors, the computer maybe
sleeping, lol!, etc. Not insurmountable, but I would give it a drive
and careful going over.
