Scratches on "Shadow-line" trim...
Has anyone experienced a number of hairline scratches on the shadow-line window trim after dealer prep when new? Mine is to the point where the dealer is ordering new trim pieces for me and they will reclean the car.

they actually buff right out...you will deal with this on a regular basis.

Yeah, mine had scratch marks almost from day 1 (probably from the delivery detail).

The shadowline trim is really beautiful, but it does scractch very easily. Although Mercedes' version of shadowline is just as easily scractched. I miss the old days when BMW and MBZ came standard with thick, solid metal trim. Look at old models from the 80's and 90's...a lot of the metal trim still looks great.

You could have taken the alu trim... than you would have had the same.

I did...
With the sport package here in the US, the alu trim is not an option. Shadowline trim comes automatically with the sport pkg

i have watermarks on my window trim (between the driver side and second row window). I had that from day 1. I don't know how to get rid of it...

buffing removes them...from my experience high pressure car wash causes this, avoid them or dry the car immediatly. I hand wash only and dont have the problem anymore.

Maybe the dealer going overboard then on ordering new pieces. I'm also a little concerned that after they put the new pieces in my car is going to leak. Is there a high risk of that?

What do you use to buff it out?

I have a guy that details my car for me...not sure what he does but it looks like new every time he finishes...I'll find out what he is doing.

We're talking about the vertical black plastic trim right? Won't buffing it make the matt finish glossy?
