That sounds like someone who doesn't have little children! I have two little ones and the need for a DVD player for drives as long as 1/2 mile are well worth the investment!

I had a similar system in an Audi Q7 I had. They installed a DVD changer in the trunk with a repeater eye up front. I had two headrest monitors with a remote up front. It worked perfectly. Although this will even be better since everything will be controlled through the idrive and not even need a remote.

I'm more interested in the headrest dvd players... thought that wasn't possible anymore with the active headrests now. Would like details when you can.

So, it's done. Awesome. I'll get the name of the part they used, but now the video works exactly as if the car was in park. It pauses the movie when the phone rings, puts on the rear camera when the car is put into reverse and works perfectly. Picture quality is fantastic, sound is awesome. It's exactly what I wanted.

The work was done at Performance Outfitters in Stamford, Connecticut.

Does anyone want me to get the actual part names they used?

The cost was $550 for the part and $150 for installation.

Equipment Used ...

So here, the deal - very simple.

It's a part called a BMW-VIN - which stands for BMW-Video In Motion - and it's made by Nav-Tv.

You can google them for information on installation places throughout the U.S. I had mine done in Connecticut - great place, has done a lot of work for me on lots of different cars.

Again, works perfectly. I couldn't be happier.

Just a follow up. I've been using this new system for the past few days... Still fantastic!

Worth it for anyone even considering it.

I'd like to hear more on the rear DVD headrests. I thought $3,200 was rediculous for that system BMW wanted and it wasn't even in the headrest.
