To service the Steptronic or not to service the Steptronic
Every time I ask the sales types about servicing the Steptronic, I get the standard response "It never needs service"!!?? Being an 'old school' driver, I don't believe that anything mechanical never needs service. The sales types about not needing service right up until the time it breaks. If I plan to keep either of these cars beyond 100K, what would be a reasonable schedule for fluid change in the Steptronic? Thanks, in advance... reblux5 |

Even if BMW officially says that the oil of the steptronic is garanteed for the gearbox life, make it changed before 70000 miles or you will change the entire gearbox around 100-120000 miles.
Some official dealer do it. The steptronic bmw maintenance kit exist, and it include the oil + filter + joint, it's a little expansive for what it is, but it's worth. ;o) Stf. |

If you are going to do it from the start, I would go the old school route of every 30k or so.
