Locking programming and features
So after 2 weeks of driving my new love I've got some pet peeves, but mostly with the locking/alarm features. Am I mistaken or do these simple options seem like they should be naturally available:
1) after I park my car, why wouldn't BMW give you the option to have all the doors automatically unlock? Why must we push the button all the time to get out or pull the door handle twice
2) if I don't push the alarm/lock button, why wouldn't the alarm automatically activate itself. Is there a need for someone to leave the car sitting there without the alarm for hours?
3)I concur with others in this forum about the need to have the tailgate close with the same push of the button on the FOB or dash. Why not? if it's not a hazard upon opening, why would it be a hazard on closing. Just make it close slowly and gently.
4) why would they design the tailgate opening key to be the same key for panic alarm? It seems that I need to hold down the tailgate key for 2 seconds for the tailgate to come up. Yet if it's 3 seconds then the panic alarm goes off. You can't believe how many times I've set off the panic alarm and looked like a moron in the parking lot.
Overall, not stuff I can't live with or without, but one would think this is common sense to the "world's best engineers"
