brakes failed on 2008 x5 today (while on highway!!)

Hi, Just curious if anyone's brakes have failed on the x5. We were about 30 miles from home on the interstate when they just went out. When the tow truck finally arrived, the car leaked brake fluid like crazy. It's a miracle we were able to stop and coast to a rest stop.

Bmw assist was not helpful and finally the police towed the car and we had to ride (pregnant and hot with my chronically ill daughter) in the front with the tow guy! He was very nice to drive us though (although I'm sure it was very unsafe), as bmw assist sent no one and said they were sorry the dealership was closed. I'm pretty sure we would have been there all night!

I'm joining AAA for sure! But I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem. So glad we are all ok. Could have been much worse. But still, I never expected to have the brakes go out on a brand new car.
