X5 2008 Brakes Fading away
So what I am trying to tell is that the feeling is not comfortable and I feel like cannot 100% trust for the brakes. The braking power however is still ok but it just fades away and makes uncomfortable feeling. The pedal is like when with the old cars when there was air in the pipe system and the other guy was making compression to the pipe system and the other one opened small nut to let the air out: the pedal faded away... I once already had it in the service to be checked but they did not find anything. And actually they blame there is nothing wrong in the pedal (or brake system) and that all the cars have similar "symptoms", which actually is not the case. BR, Kutteri |

well, break fading usually means breaking performance decreases (breaking distance increases) with the same amount of force applied on the pedal. If you mean that the break pedal seems to retract further away from your foot and becomes softer sort of? I think that is normal. When you just start to drive, the pedals and steering is usually less softer than after things warm up.

Thanks. Yes, pedal retracts further away from my foot.
But what I'm worried is that if I keep on pushing the pedal towards floor it reaches the floor after 5s constant pushing. Same symptoms applies if I keep on pumping the pedal: it never gets hard (that used to be in older cars) but stays soft, pedal retracting further away. I do not have this "problem" in my 2007 130i where the pedal gets harder and harder when pumping, not rectracting away. So I don't know if these symptoms are typical for new X5s? By the way. what does si mean? I have X5 3.0si and 130i. What does si mean here? Kutteri |

Sounds like you need a new master cylinder.
