By the way, if you're much taller than your wife then one of you won't be using it.

I believe the height of display position is adjustable via I-Drive and the setting si saved in driver memory along with seat and steering wheel posisition.

Yes, you are correct.

Edit: Oops, I think that this is not correct. The Head-Up Display is adjusted through iDrive. I suppose you could have it adjusted in a position that works for two memorized seat positions (one for each driver).

My wife likes it and is glad we have it. I asked her why she likes it: "The greatest value to her is the added display real estate". She has her way she sets the screen displays; one for entertainment and the smaller one for either nav or trip computer then uses the HUD for nav.
We were both surprised that it is more functional and less a gimmick than we thought when we ordered the X5.

if that makes me stupid, I'm glad to be stupid.
Anyway, my mother didn't even notice at first but now she loves it.

I think I-drive is great it gives you control over some many aspects of the car, nothing else comes close.

You know, I tried that but the seat memory wouldn't memorize my settings. I stopped adjusting the HUD position after my wife got tired of adjusting it back to hers.

I think it's the key memory (use different keys to pull up the different settings) I can't see why just using the memory buttons wouldn't work but I guess you can try using the two different keys for you and your wife.

I'll give the key memory a try. I should probably just RTFM but I don't drive the car enough for it to bother me. My wife likes using the HUD so that's what matters the most. Even when I have the HUD set up, I still can't break the habit of glancing at the speedometer all of the time.
