Usage of the 21 Gallon/80 Litter storage

The X5 has a storage "tray" under the floor panel flap in the cargo area. Does anyone use it for a small refrigerator? Any other ideas of usage?

Thanks,

You must have the 3rd row seats with no spare. Mine is used for the spare tire, so not much room for anything else. I saw that someone else used it to hold audio equipment for their custom sound system upgrade.

You don't have the cargo area under the "flap" if you have the 3rd row option.

here in Canada you can't even buy a small size spare to fit under there...I could only buy the jack, I tried to use it at the dealer and none could get the X5 to rise with that flimsy piece of metal....they took it right back and claim they knew it wouldn't do the job and suggest I get A Canadian Tire jack????
Got a flat already....now equipped with a small compressor, a bottle of latex, some repair kit for hole...all fit in that useless cavity
would much prefer to have at least a small workable spare, anyone have experience with it, I would then order it from the states?
thanks

jpl, are you equipped with the 3rd row seat? If so, the spare is not an option.

If not, then I'd suggest that you go ask your dealer, since it's much easier to have it done in Canada if the dealer can do it, rather than a trip to the States.

no, I don't have the third row seat, its just because the dealer in Canada, at least the 3 I called in Montreal, don't show the spare tire in their parts list, they say its only available in the USA, they are very big promoter of Run Flat

Even with run flats, you get a spare tire in the back if you don't have third row seats... at least in the US.

The run flats advertise they can go xxx miles... but really, if you don't want to wait for BMW assistance, can't get to the service center immediately, or simply are stuck up in the mountains for a week on a ski trip.... that spare could be good peace of mind.... something a fridge doesn't offer.
