What kind of test results are BMW looking to get with this pricing?

Thinking about it more, it makes sense.
This price will allow them to bring the TT6 at around 50K and TT8 at around $58K. At that point the diesel premium over the gas TT6 will be around $2K which is normal for comparable engines. Afterall, the diesel is much more powerful than the 3.0i!! |

Please let us know the details. We have to pay for the cold weather package. I'm just going to order heated front seats. I never use them, but you have to put them on for resale. I'm waiting for the new I drive...

I think what some people on the forum are forgetting is that BMW is selling performance and they charge for it accordingly. If they were charging for improved fuel economy, the pricing premium wouldn't make sense; however considering that the 35d will get to 60 in 7.2 seconds, it is not that much slower than the 4.8 and gets much better fuel economy at the same time. In addtion, I'm betting that it will feel almost as quick as the 4.8 given the 425 lb. ft. of torque. It definitely has me interested. We'll also have to see what the 36 month rsiduals are. In the MB lineup, the diesel vehicles have residuals that are at least 4% higher than theri gas counterparts. MB is betting that they will have a higher end value given their better fuel economy. grover |

I have driven the MB diesel in the ML and it was a dog. I'm sure with the twin turbo on the X5, it won't have that problem... It had enough power to go down the highway 75-80 MPH, but had no passing power what so ever. It was fine for city use...
