I have the all weather mat

It has a lip all around the edge the keeps fluids and dirt from running over onto the carpet. It is a great add for the vehicle. We haul coolers and things back there so sometimes water can get spilled. It keeps this stuff from getting on the carpet.

I have the all weather cargo mat with the lip. Quality is excellent and I am very happy with it.

Cargo mat

The lip is about 1" to 1 1/2" high all around the edge but it is flexible and sort of conforms to the shape of the cargo area side walls. It is good quality material. It would take a lot to tear it or poke a hole in it. It is also pretty flexible so you can lift it up to access the storage area underneath with no problem. I highly recommend it to keep the area back there clean. I have the floor mats as well and they also have the lip and are of the same material. All of them have a BMW logo on them.

thanks for the info. just ordered mine. it's true. the lip on it helps. I had the other one on the 2002 x5 and the lip was not as high and liquids can spill over.

I'm also interested in this but still not clear on the differences between the two. Is the all-weather (non-fitted) a simple rectangle while the fitted one turns into every corner back there? From the pic that would seem to be the only difference (no-3rd row).

I copied the info below from a Roadfly post but it is exactly the route I chose (i have 3rd row seats that are down 99% of the time). The all weather cargo mat works great and fits perfect (it might seem just a tad tight if the second row seats are pushed all the way back). Note that the last few digits of the part number will change depending upon color! It is $58 from Circle BMW (they give nice internet discounts....ask for Chris in parts). Also...the beige color is not an exact match but you will will not even notice two days later....

I use the larger all weather cargo mat for x5s without the 3rd row. part number 82 11 0 417 985. the smaller one designed for use with the 3rd row seats up is useless since it only covers the under deck storage panel. and most likely if i were to carry anything messy in the back it would be with the seats down. The material is flexible enough that if i need to open the 3rd row, i either roll it up an stow it in whatever is left of the back. most of the time i dont roll it. i just bend it gently into a "U" shape and let it line up against the back seat and lower tailgate.
