Towed in for Tranny Failure Last Night

I was just thinking the other day that my wife's E70 4.8i hasn't had a single issue or problem, but I guess I spoke too soon. Last night when she was leaving work, the vehicle put itself into park and lit up a warning light that said Transmission Malfunction - Proceed to Dealer Immediately (or something like that).

So, my August 2008 delivery $70+k truck was towed to the dealership for repairs. No update yet, we'll just have to wait and see...but very disappointing.

I had the same issue. When the service dept looked at it, they couldn't find anything wrong with it (s be ready for that). The one thing they did they say that the code was set due to a bad camshaft sensor. However, there are 4 of them and they didn't know which one. Hence, they ordered the parts and replaced all 4 sensors and another speed sensor (or something like that). Since then, we've been good.

g'damn speed sensors... I had an entire tranny rebuilt ($3400) on my other SUV only to find out the check transmission light persisted... they swapped a measily speed sensor and everything has been great.

I saw one being towed the other day. Super shiny and I was thinking...what the heck could be wrong with a brand new X5...
