Glovebox won't stay shut

Anybody else experienced a problem where the glovebox won't stay closed on the E70. I have experienced it a lot recently and put it down to the cold weather. Once the car has warmed up on the inside it goes back to normal behaviour.

It won't open on the first push sometimes, but never had a problem with it not staying closed. Dealer time.

Nah - it can wait - I'm due for a service in the next three months.

Probably something pushing against it or you need to have the mechanism greased

I got the same problem and the dealer claimed they need to order a new glovebox from Germany (?) to replace it. It took about 3 months for this spare part to arrive and I have no problem afterwards. Good luck.

It's a design flaw and has been updated/fixed. See SIB 512007.

X5 Meister, Thanks for posting that. I hope I won't need it but I've downloaded a copy of that SIB.

I like the cause description:

The root cause is in the kinematics or the latches of the glove compartment.

wait... what?
