"Punching out" the bumper

Hi all!

Can somebody tell me what's involved in "punching out" the bumper on 3.0 in order to fit the oval exhaust? Looks like a piece of plastic has to be removed, and I can feel some "clips" or something from behind. Do I have to remove the bumper, or there is a simpler way. I am not installing a new system (yet!), going with the dual tips.
Thanks.

Wow! Forty hits and nobody's done it before? How's that possible? I've seen many threads that were discussing the install of the dual tips, but nobody mentioned the bumper alteration.

Not many people here put quad tips on a 3.0. Most put a different 4.6/4.8 posts on a 4.4.

Just get a screw driver & unclip from the inside of the bumper...it's very easy. Just a little bit of elbow grease. you don't have to remove the bumper.

Oval Tips for 3.0?

Can you provide info on what oval tips you have found that fit the E70 3.0si? Been looking for quite a while and all I find are ones for the E53 '06
and previous MLs.

I'm having the original tips from the V8 modified and welded. Got a muffler off of a wrecked V8.

I did it by applying a screwdriver on the inside edge of the plastic and pushing. It takes quite a bit of force to remove them.
