Build Priority & Order Tracking

Last Friday, January 16th, a placed an order for an X5 4.8. The dealer basically altered one of the car that was in his system that was Status 112 (Scheduled for Production). The rep at the 800 number told me that I am scheduled for week #6, which is the 2nd week in February.

Question: I am told that "Customer Sold" orders typically get build priority and often times move up. Is this accurate? Can I expect to get built earlier than the scheduled date?

Thanks in advance.

I do not think BMW makes a distinction between sold or not sold. However, it may get produce earlier since they are not exactly busy right now. The main point for early production here is probably the availability of the options you ordered, which may delay production.

About 1 year ago I had my x5 ordered and delivered to a dealership in NJ. The entire process from ordering to driving it off the lot took 22 days. The data available to the rep is a couple of days behind the actual prod status; the data on the website is delayed even longer. I was driving my car for a week while the website was still showing "at vehicle prep center"...
