have a 2008 x5 3.0d was told by the local BMW dealer that xenon lights can only be factory fitted pre-purchase is this correct,can anybody confirm?

That's generally the case but it is possible to retrofit. It would be a costly and bothersome way of doing it though.

I dont know about the 2008 x5 but my x5 is 2002 and I had no problem to replace the xenon bought from NAPA parts and paid $99

Has anyone done this retrofit? The hid I have are worthless really thinking of a retrofit xenon
