Picked up my diesel today

I went to the dealer and took delivery of my diesel X5 today. I have 130 miles on it and it runs great. They filled it with regular diesel fuel. There are stations here that carry premium diesel fuel. I can't figure out how to get my MPG from the stalk? Or does the car have to be moving. I can olnly get the range. You can't tell it's a diesel on the highway and the engine is smooth. No smell from the exhaust and not much extra noise inside the car when pulling away from a stop light. It has plenty of power.

Very cool. I look forward to hearing more from you as you put more miles on it. Congrats on the new purchase!

Thanks, I have to figure out how everything works. I just hooked up the Sirius radio. For some reason, they kept dropping my calls when I was in the car. I had no problems talking to others, so I waited until I got home and called from my home phone. I'd like to be able to figure my fuel mileage. I might have to wait until I run out this tank and do it with a calculator.

You can access your MPG thru the iDrive system. I think it is under Info, or car info.

I'm pretty sure you just press the button on the end of the turn signal stalk until it comes up between the tach and speedo? You can do it within iDrive too.
Congrats!

Thanks, I will give it a try. I tried with the stalk, but it will only show the range..

I figured out why I couldn't read MPG. It was set in metic and I changed it in the I drive. So far, the computer shows 21.9 MPG and most of my miles have been on the highway driving home from the dealer. They used regular diesel and I'm going to use this tank up and switch to premium diesel and see what my mileage shows. I also have heard mileage will increase once it's broken in.

You should keep trying with the stalk. It should cycle through a few things each time you press briefly. Pressing for longer resets that particular item.
