Connecting iPod to BMW

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have already gotten some valuable info here (programing garage door opener) but I need some info that I haven't been able to find. I am trying to figure out how to work my iPod in the X5. Do I need some sort of adaptor? I thought the X5 was compatable with the iPod. I thought I could just plug it into the auxillary port in the center console box. Apparently not. Can someone set me straight on this? I have the CD player and Nav package in my 2007 X5.

If you have the USB adapter in the centre console then you can use that and control it as if it were ab MP3 CD. If yours does not have the USB then in the centre console there is a mini-jack. You can connect the iPod there but you will need to switch songs etc using the iPod. If you do that you need to select the source from the entertainment options - it will be AUX or Rear/Aux.

iPod connection

Thanks, I don't seem to have the USB port so I'll try connecting through the AUX port once I buy a cable.

mObridge would be recommended over the factory BMW kit:

mObridge - iPod integration kit for e70 X5

This is a quick install, if you alreayd have a factory CD Changer - no dealer activation is necessary.

Looks like you're in Severna Park. If so, BMW of Annapolis quoted me ~550 to install the iPod adapter in my 07 X5. Scheduled to go in on the 9th. I know the vendor above has said it's slow, but others here have had it installed and reported no problems. Do a search.
