Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit cruise control on my e70 3.0sd may 08? Has anyone done this?

Thank you,

I think cruise control is a standart on E70 in Europe.
Don't you have a second leaver under your "blinker" - signal lights on the left of your steering column??

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

I know that its suppose to be standard. But if you can believe it they forgot to place it. Now I checked with my dealer and he freaked when he saw this. He says it cannot be retro fitted. But I had to give it a shot and ask because sometimes even dealers make mistakes.. On the other hand I don't know where will I get my right.. I travel a lot and I am very pissed with this matter. I spent a hundred thousand euro on this car and it doesn't even have a cruise control... if anyone else has any idea it would be helpful.

thanks.

if it's standard, how could the dealer forget to add it?

i don't understand.

If you just got it, make the dealer get you another X.

It's standard. Send the X back and get another one.

ya Contact BMW directly, not your dealer, and let them know of this issue, they should take care of it..somehow. maybe you will get a few grand back?

In some country, cruise control is not a standard equipment for xdrive30i. In HK, it is not. As I know, you have to replace the instrument cluster, the steering column switch, and have your car coded (no idea if it works).

Smile

In Greece cruise control is standard. My dealer is a friend so I don't want create a huge problem, this is why I would prefer just to retro fit it, any how I love my car and I would not trade it with another one especially as I see that a lot of you have all sort of issues.. But on the other hand what ever is considered standard is never included in the dealers order list because as common logic says it should be anyhow included. The mistake was done where the car was build. So I am trying to figure out another way. does anyone have any contact, email from BMW head offices that i could make a complaint about this?

thank you all,

If the dealer is a friend, why would you go behind his back and contact the "head offices" at BMW? I think that would piss off the friend and create the huge problem that you are saying you want to avoid.

If the dealer is a "friend", he wouldn't sold you a substandard car. If he did it unintentionally (and I emphasise "IF"!), he should correct it himself (order parts, install everything what's missing, or replace it with another vehicle).
