Hi There,
Well went into with the x5 today to get checked out. BMW independent specialist found the problem within an hour. It transpired whoever changed my aircon filters in the engine bay succeeded in breaking a clip on the filter cover (Previous owner). which had the result of during bad weather the drains couldn't take the water away fast enough which meant the water seeped into the air conditioning intake down through the filters into the ducts into the air box and drained out over the actuator for the rear vents killing the actuator and finally entering the footwell via the MOST direct access port The solution is as follows. Replace damaged cover. Replace both aircon filters in engine bay. Replace re-circulated air filter in passenger foot well Replace broken actuator on bottom of air box. All in all another successful diagnosis. Gonna be reasonably expensive though. Just reassures me of the fact that if irish dealers were all honest and admitted when they made a mistake people like me wouldn't be in this situation. |
