I plan on debadging my X5 when it I get it in a few weeks. What do you do about the rear BMW roundel? From the parts list it looks like removing it will leave a couple of small holes. Or is it really just held by adhesive?

Car still has roundels, just the big X5 on the boot and the 3.0si from the side has gone. Makes it much cleaner in my opinion, especially now that you get all that xdrive30sd or some similar rubbish written on the side......

(technically it is No Model Designation)

Frankly I'd like to get rid of the roundels, as there are a lot of morons with keys and rings that love to scratch-up BMWs when they see them in parking lots. And since they typically aren't too bright, without the roundel, many of them can't recognize a BMW, particularly an SAV/SUV.

Since I didn't buy it to impress people, I'd be just as happy if people thought it was a Ford, Toyota, or some other SUV.

Get some stick-ons from ebay of different names to sick on top of roundels. If you remove the whole thing than you will have holes which looks bad.

I was thinking of that, but having a hard time finding one that fits the round format. Any suggestions? If you've seen something appropriate on e-bay, I'd appreciate a link.

You are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to disagree - I believe it looks a LOT better. Frankly the current moniker along the side is just tasteless. It harks back to the mid 80s when the car companies tried to get as many letters on the back of their cars as possible. It just ended up looking stupid.

The big X5 on the back looks awful as well. It is too big and looks like an afterthought (and it did on the E53 too). Plus it's bloody obvious it's an X5 to anyone who actually cares.

I would even debadge an X5M.

Interesting post at the bottom of this site
New Spy Photos: BMW X5 Facelift

For clarification, the X5 will indeed get the two turbo gas engines currently offered in the X6 stateside. These are available around March 2010 production I’m told. The hatch/tailgate combo will remain the same as current, not a single lift hatch. However, if you look at the pics, you see the turn signal is moving from the bottom corner up to the top corner; very interesting.

Wonder if that "BMW Sales" user is truly an inside person.
