Thumbs up From range rover sport to X5

Hi everybody,

I have been watching this site for some time whilst deciding what to buy next.
Decision was between buying the new RRS tdv8 Audi Q7 or the X5 and its taken me 3 months to sort through all the pro and cons of each vehicle as well as trade in value for my 3 year old Range rover sport. I can tell you that it was a hard decision to let go of my loyalty to the range rover but in the end the winner just had to be the X5 and the deal has been signed and sealed.

I am now looking forward to getting a 2008 3.0 SD Sport in Arctic white, with black Nevada interior, fine bamboo grain trim, Aluminium running boards and 20" Y spoke 214 weels. I have ordered the aerodynamic kit separately and will get it painted then will fit the kit myself right after getting the X5 home.

I am supposed to be picking it up on the 12th of February. Its not a very long to wait by any of your standards from what i have read here in these forums some of you guys are waiting many months for your pride and joys to be delivered. Anyways I will post the pictures as soon as its ready.

Cheers,
Bozz.

He's from Australia. They can get the larger wheels there, for some reason, we can't in the U.S.

Stupid in my opnion...

The X5 is a great vehicle, no doubt about it. But I'm just wondering why you decided against the RR Sport. Did you have the S/C? I have heard of problems with the older ones, but I drove the 07 model and had it for a week. I thought it was great. More of a luxury ride and it doesn't corner on rails like the X5, nor does it have all the toys - but I thought it was a nice ride and it definately has the majestic road presence. People were looking at it basically everywhere I went.

King,

The sports rangie was a great vehicle and it certainly has the genuine 4X4 capability that no other SUV can match, it also has the majestic prowess that can make people turn and look at as well. I had the TDV6 in Buckingham blue with the cream leather interior and I loved it don't get me wrong but the fact is the style hasnt changed since the sport was introduced and I got a bit bored with it if I can say such a thing. I really just wanted a change in style and something with more sports driving agility as well. Unfortunately the new RRS didn't or couldn't give me that even with the new TDV8 version and as I would normally have just slipped back in to a new sports rangie quite easily it just wouldn't have satisfied my needs for some change. The X5 certainly satisfies my desires and does it in a big way, I look forward to pulling up beside a Range Rover at the traffic lights one day and saying "Been there done that and moved up with some style" then leave him my dust trail.

Bozz.

I went through pretty much the same process as you with regards choosing what to buy, the X5 felt the best driving car in my opinion which is why I chose it. It's pretty sexy lookin with decent wheels too and definitely a very nice interior. At first I was leaning toward the choices with low range as I'm into 4wding and going bush but then I figured why not just keep my patrol and keep this new car nice and dint free

The patrol is far better off road than the rangie or ML/GL can be and this way I get the best of both worlds.
