The plastic rivets are a one time use only. Once you pull those out you cant reuse them as the rivet setter already cut off the pin at the desired length. You dont need the oem plastic rivet, you can use any plastic rivet(screw in type) from any auto parts shop. I think they are 3/4 or 1/4.

Went to the dealer yesterday and he wants $1,200 to remove the running boards and put some kind of trim piece in its place.

We have an 08 3.0 without running boards. My wife gets her pants dirty (in the winter) every time. (She is 5' 9") As a matter of fact, so do I and I am just under 5' 11". I guess there is no perfect solution!

So I was at the stealership today. Talked to them regarding the running boards. They wanted originally 6 hours for install (according to BMW...hahaha.) Told them I have the sheets for install at 2 hours. They came down to 2.5 hours and at a reduced labor rate.

So I also got them to do the Aero kit, re-finish the wheels in Ferric Grey, and put new shoes on her. Its my part 1 of the mod-plan. Part 2, find a body shop/indy shop for painting of various grills, emblems, taillight pipes, body molding, etc..., then delete the rails... Part 3, lower the front and back.... Part 4, exhaust.... Part 5 - rob a bank....wait, this should be first..

Installed the running boards on my E70 4.8i today. I bought them from my local dealer for $365 with the BMWCCA parts discount. I wasn't sure how long it was going to take me when reading the BMW instructions, but all in it took 4 hours with the help of my 4yr old son (prob would have taken 3 hours without him)

Anyway they look good and I saved 4 hours of labor or about $450 bucks and it was pretty easy.

I picked some up from Pacific bmw for $332. I'll be installing them over the Christmas break. Also got the fender flare retrofit kit for $265
I aim'd Jason at Tischer (getbmwparts.com) and he couldn't match Pacific's prices. I also picked up the roof rack crossbars for $188.
