Destination & Handling

Hi guys, I previously owned an X3, and want to upgrade to an X5 Diesel. I'm in the process of visiting the dealer, kicking the tires, checking the net etc. You know... My plan is to pick up the car from the plant, in Spartanburg.
I asked the question to the dealer, and he said it would be great, all hotel accommodation, food, visit the plant and drive the car in their test/driving school course with an instructor is including the car's price. I said "cool", "I'm saving destination charge too isn't it?".

He said "Nope, you have to pay it". I said" OK, hotel, food, instructor, driving lesson etc. isn't it?" He said no. "Even if you living on Spartanburg and pick up the car from the plant's door you have to pay $825 D&H charge."

Hey, I would buy another accessory with that amount of money, or fill my tank many times.

OK, whatever, I'm not going to try cheap and make a big fuss about it. It's $70K car and $825 is not so biggie to discuss but isn't it strange? Like they want to get tipped
