Wheel/tire options for non-sport X-5 4.8, 2007
What options work with a non-sport pkg X5? 19s, 20s or both. Tire options(sizes). Pictures would help as well. I'm probably getting the stock wheels or replicas to match the stock look. With regards to winter tires, recommendations? I am aware what tirerack has, wonder if any other less expensive options exist. Jeff |

how much snow do you get and how often? Even in the 4" snow & slush we got, the 20s on Toyo Proxes all-seasons performed great. Same for all the storms we've gotten this season (which was a lot). It's a big sigh of relief as I don't have to worry about carrying another set of tires nor having to get them changed twice a year. Of course if you drive in snow half the year, I'd go with a dedicated snow tire.

Did you have snow chain on your 20" Toyo all-seasons while drvining throught 4" of snow ? Like in my case, I only go to Lake Tahoe for ski two to three times a year. I might just use all-seasons for that.

I used the stock 18's for the snows and bought the 19 ich Y spoke 211 rims for the summer and put Toyo Proxes STII on them - was a compromise on the size to save a few bucks by not having to go with a staggered set up and I can rotate them front to back as they wear and get a few more miles out of them... There are also far more tire choices in the 19 inch size. The Toyos get great reviews and look pretty cool. Supposed to be really quiet. In both cases I ditched the runflats and got the conticomfortkit from the Tirerack. I'm practically giving away the oem tires that have less than 100 miles on them. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=170301972850

Good to learn that 20" Proxes high performance all-seasons are capable on snow. But one issue for me would be no run-flat available for Proxes....I don't know if I should choose non run-flat because the X5 I am going to get must be equipped with 3rd row seat.....
Thanks. Quote:

I wanted to get confirmation if possible than the optional 19's or 20's will fit(with the OEM optional tire sizes) with a NON-sport package car. Concerned they won't because they are not an option without sport pkg also(at least they weren't in 2007). Has anyone made this change to their non-sport pkg X5?
