If you don't want to spend money on a puller, the two pair of channel locks worked beautifully.

That bushing is pressed on. Yours appears to be stuck more than most. First spray with a penetrating lube. You might want to put something on the glass and paint so you don't get it on the car. let it soak for 10 min or so. Screw on the nut you removed to protect the threads. As I said, that bushing is pressed on the shaft be low the threads. You need to pull the bushing up to the nut. You need force evenly on two sides of the bushing. A puller is best, but I did it with two channel locks on two sides squeezing evenly. Squeeze the bushing to the nut. If you bend the shaft you stand a chance of cracking the glass as a few people above in the thread. Isolate th the force from the bushing to the nut the best you can. I had the channel locks upside down on the left and right and pulled the bushing straight up.

Rather than risk breaking something with force, use a Dremel and emery wheel to cut right through it in seconds. Cut 90% through and use a screw driver to break it open.

Shucks, I wish I saw this earlier! I too ended up having to use a dremel.
