well ya you can do that, but the problem is, when you answer the call from the phone, it will be on the phone for few seconds, so, you will not be able to click that option. Actually the option would be Turn Hands Free On- instead of off. Wait about 2 seconds, and the call will be transfered directly to your car.

I also have an HTC (Verizon XV6800) and my problem is the delay in getting the call to even pick up when I hit accept on idrive. It takes 5-10 secs sometimes while the idrive appears frozen. You guys experience this?

Nope, I don't get this at all. I'm running the AT&T Tilt with about 2600 names and addresses on it. Mine picks up immediately.

On another note, each time I get into the car, it loads the names and phone numbers of my contacts. BUT, for some reason, it does not load all of them! You would think that it would cut off names in the "Z's", but that's not the case. It seems to cut off some individual names from all over the alphabet. Any thoughts as to why?

I have seen my business listings like restaurants & shops go under the underscore (_) category instead of their alphabet... did you check there? If that's the case, something is different with the entry. I haven't bothered to figure out why but it may be because I've filed their entry under business but that still wouldn't make sense as to why BMW thinks it should all be placed under "_".

I have used cell phones for many, many years and bluetooth in a number of different cars like Cadillac, Nissan, Lexus, etc, etc. They all basically have pretty big operational problems. Especially when you are using it for more important/complicated stuff like business rather than chatting.

Has a cell phone or automotive engineer EVER used the devices that they design? I honestly don't think they ever do.

My solution. Have more than one cell phone. Or you can get more than one number on your cell phone. Etc. They are so cheap these days that I have found having that type of solution is best.

My last Volvo XC90 had a phone set up in the center console so whenever it was a delicate call, I just picked up the phone which automatically disengaged the speakers.
With this BMW phone system, my marriage is in danger.

Exact same problem, 2009 X5, HTC Touch Pro. Every time it's missing the exact same contacts. For few missing ones, I created new ones with small changes in names, they are shown fine. I haven't found a pattern in missing contacts.

I tried to see if the steering wheel button gets rid of the pick-up delay but it doesn't even answer the phone. I can still toggle from accept/reject on the idrive knob afterward.
