I would be interested in the costs as well. Just today while driving to work I was peppered by some stuff, gravel from a truck probably. Will have to check the damage. I usually try and avoid following a truck but today I didn't know where the stuff was coming from

Any shop recommendations in SF Bay Area and prices, much appreciated

I have the same issue as you do, rh71. My X is also white.
What I do is to ask some paint from BMW dealer (just a few ounce) and then use the brush pen (as small as possible) to apply at least 2 layers of the paint.

Then wait a few days for letting dry. Make sure the dried paint form a kind of "bump". Then rubbing the "bump" with soft cloth with a little amount of car polish until it is smooth. If you don't satisfy with the result, you can repeat the same procedure again.

Make sure you request the paint from BMW dealer, because from my experience, the paint is better than what I purchase in the shop and also avoid the tiny different in color.

Hope this can help you and Good Luck.

i have 3m on mine for the whole front end, bumper, fogs, lights, hood, fenders, mirror backs. it works great. definitely worth the money for the price of a new paint job...i paid almost $280 for the film and did the install myself...dealer wanted almost $1100 for everything

does your lease contract not include any provisions regarding dings?

As long as it's not the size and depth of a golf ball. they have a tool that measures dings and such. I'm in the same situation, lease the car for 3 years then get a new one. New paint, new smell, new warranty.

My opinion, getting dings, chips etc is part of wear and tear. What do you do to avoid those idiots dinging your car when you're out shopping. Put inflatable barriers around the car? How much protection do we need? My wife even get on my case for parking as far as possible away from everybody and only take corner parking spots. Two days ago, I found a little ding on the door. It costs 50 bucks to fix it.

Just my personal opinion.
