a question about painted bumpers

i want to paint my bumpers and wheel arches to match the black color on the car, i went to a local shop and on of the workers there told me that becous that the bumpers is not smoothe like the car he cant promise me that he can match the colore and smootheness of the car color.
what did you did to paint them ?

Mine were first primed with a 2k primer and they are perfect

what do you mean by 2k primer ?
and befor you painted your bumper was not smooth ?

The 2k primer is a 2 part paint the has a high build it act a a filler to smooth out the roughness

sounds like the paint shop isn't very knowledgeable.

They told me exactly the same thing. and decided not to paint it. Is yours black? I've been looking everywhere for a black x5 with sports package and aerokit to see how the final result is.. Does anyone have any pics to post with the above description?

yes mine is black too.
i think its possible to paint those bumpers and make it look good, iam going to another place to get a second opinion about it.
as any one have pics of standard bumpers thats been painted?, black if you can.

If you do a good search you will find a black x5 with aerokit on the forum which painted all the plastic but that one did not have sports package...

I got a similar response from my dealer but if you take your car to a 'production' paint shop, they will sand, primer, sand, paint, sand, polish and clear coat
