Lots of daily annoyances found in first 2 weeks of ownership ...

Here are some annoyances I have discovered in the two weeks that I've had my new 4.8i ...

Scenario 1: You're at the car wash, and every time you spray the doors, the car keeps beeping, locking & unlocking the doors if you have comfort access. What do you do; leave the key fobb IN the vehicle??

Scenario 2: You jump in, hit the start button and put the car in reverse. By the time you're done backing out of the parking spot, the stupid BMW sign is still on the screen and the camera hasn't even kicked in yet!

Scenario 3: You're done backing up and driving away already and NOW you get to see what's behind you on the camera and can't get rid of it! Well you can ...once you go over 20km/hr or manually turn off the camera.

Scenario 4: You go through the drive thru and get your coffee. You decide to pull over and sip your drink and take off the seatbelt. The stupid warning chime keeps going off for ever unless you shut the engine off!

Scenario 5: You get to work or home or where ever and hit engine stop. The radio & electronics are still on. Why?? Why should you have to manually turn off the radio? I realize it all powers off if you lock the car... but why have to lock it in your own garage?

Scenario 6: Everytime you start driving away, you get a warning in the HUD and chime saying it's -3 degrees. Now it's +3 degrees. Oh, time to go home? It's now -3 again! There should be a way to turn that off. All Canadian cars should have this feature (annoyance) permanently off. Yes it's the north pole, it's ALWAYS below -3 degrees! We don't need to be reminded everytime we get in and out of our car.

Scenario 7: You're on your way and your kid in the back seat wants to watch 'Barney' now. What do you do? Oh that's right PULL OVER! Because there's no way to control the rear dvd from up front. Heck you can't even switch it on from the remote. You have to manually hit the button on the bottom of the rear/centre console. Have you tried to reach for it?? Let's just say it's easier to get out of the car and do it from the back seat. Either that or just play the dvd as soon as you get in the car ... whether or not your kid wants to see it yet! Oh and listen to Barney sing along because you don't want to put headphones on your two year old! Heck let's just fold it down and get it out of the way so you keep hitting your elbow in it!

I realize a lot of these are due to safety features. I'm sure I will find other annoyances as I discover more of the 'features,' but after having driven the new Porsche Cayenne S and the Range Rover Sport S/C, I LOVE this vehicle and would not trade it in for any other SUV. (Except of course the X5 M) Just bored at work and had to rant.

Just stomp on the gas once when the light turns green, and the beautiful sound of that V8 engine gives you a grin from ear to ear and you forget all the little things!
