such quick service.. or is it?

I went to the dealer today for my appointment. I needed to get an oil change done, because i havent gotten one since i bought the car. So, today i went in by 3:30pm, and gave them the keys. Around 5:15pm, i asked how long it will still be, and he told me atleast another 30 to 45 min. I waited around, and saw the car getting pulled in around 5:32pm. At exactly 5:58pm (25 min later) the car associate gave me the keys and told me im all set. I saw the tech take the car out for a spin to check on other things like brakes and such so that probably took about 15 min atleast. Do you think its really possible to do an oil change in 10 min? OR did they not do anything at all when they took the car in? Its a 2007 3.0si with 9,880 miles. I bought it with 8,500 miles on it just about 6 weeks ago.

is there any way to know if the oil was actually changed?

which dealer on LI? I would think it's in their best interest to keep their vehicles in top shape considering they cover it for so long. Are you sure the previous owner never had it done?

It's kind of short timing, but if they were in a hurry to finish and get out of there, they could do it it ten minutes.

You didn't say what engine you have. If you have a dipstick, you could check the oil with a white paper towel and tell by the color if it was new oil, since oil tends to darken rather quickly.

They are not going to chamnge the oil unless the information obtained on the key reader indicates it is due. 10 to 1 the oil was not changed.

Shouldn't they keep service records for each vehicle regardless of owner? Where is it being serviced? For LI, Hassel BMW in Freeport was rated one of the top in the country.

I would think it will take longer than 10 mins just to drain the oil, but then maybe not, I got mine done at 7400miles (not at the $tealer and I paid for it) and it took them about 40 mins. They do have to run the engine for a while because these new engines don't have dipstick, so they have to let the engine pump the oil through it's entrails and then if needed add more. If they did a test drive, I am guessing they were checking for that.

"Quality" work...I would go back and be firm.
The other beef would be they kept you "sitting"
for so long, and then obviously rushed the job.

Give them thumbs down when the $8/hr phone power
gang calls for your review of the stlrship, imo.
