2009 X5 Diesel Transmission Oil Pan Gasket Seeping

Just got my first oil change and noticed that on the multipoint inspection the tech noted the Transmission Oil Pan Gasket Seeping. Is this something I should be worried about? At what point would this need to be repaired?

Waiting for a reply from my dealer but thought I would throw it out here and see if others have experienced this problem?

Here is the reply from the Service Manager.

"Oil seeps are not considered a defect. Oil seeps are minimal and should be monitored on the next visit in."

I imagine BMW has a specific definition for the word "seep". Sounds like it means an oil stain that doesn't form drops. I'd watch it and bring it in if it does start forming drops.

David, my new car better not be seeping anything. I would want it repaired if it were mine.

Get it fix. It's under warranty, so dealer should do it.

There is nothing to fix. The techs did their job by noting that there is a damp spot that is worth watching in case it becomes a leak. If it does so, they will fix it, and they created a service record in the system for you so there is no doubt. Give them points for noting it down.

Forget about it, unless you see a puddle under the car at some point, and if so take it back in for repair at that time.
