In my experience, you're going to get paint chips etc on your car whether or not you have a clear bra...unless you want to wrap your car in hard plastic, there are eventually going to be blemishes. I'll post tinted pics later this week once I get it washed.

That said, I do park it far, far away from other cars and drive gingerly through debris-filled road segments (aplenty here in Chicago).
I've had the clear bra on my e53 for 8 years now--I can't imagine what the paint would look like with little rock chips up front without it--especially black which is what I have. You are right you will always get some nicks but SUVs catch a lot more road debris and it's nice to have the protection. I am from Chicago originally (Barrington) so I know what you mean on the roads--another reason to get it.

Nice X you got there. Would love to PCD a BMW myself one day How was your experience? Would you classify it as worth it?

BTW, on the paint chip, I got one on the passenger side door where probably no protection would have saved it

I've heard varying stories. If you PCD, do you still get charged the destination charge? Also, is it registered in your home state already when you pick it up or you need to do that when you get home.

I really enjoyed it; it was totally worth the 750 mile drive home.

You do get charged the destination, as the performance center isn't at the factory and they do all the factory delivery stuff as well as:
- put you up in the Marriott and feed you the night before
- get you out on the track for 2 hours day-of delivery
- take you through the factory on an "owners tour", which i understand is more thorough than a normal tour, owing to the smaller groups (we were 4, much smaller than the groups of 20 that go through there)

Your dealer should have all the registration paperwork done 2 weeks out from delivery. I arrived with plate in hand. This is one of those deals (like ED) where you are all paid up and own the car (or are the lessee) well in advance of actually being able to drive said car.

Thanks! That's what annual memberships to the car wash are for.
