I am on my second pair of fronts and first replacement of my rear with Dunlop Sp Maax. They too are noisy. I just replaced the fronts last year and I may have 8000 KMS on them and they are already noisy and showing wear. I figure I have to replace the rears so I may as well replace all of them at once with non-runflats. The thing that worries me is I will not have a spare. At least there is a sense of security with the runflats that you can get to a service area. I travel a lot and sometimes I am not close any service center. I do however keep a repair kit, plugs and green slime with me now, if I go with non-runflats I will have to carry a small jack as well.

hhhm3 is an unknown quantity at this point
I would recommend the Vredestein Sessanta for sure.
I had them for a few months now and are great!
They grip the best on dry and wet conditions of any Z rate performance tires I had.
It is really the compound that it uses that gives it the performance and traction.
The thread design is nice too.

Do a search on this forum and you will see some feedbacks/reviews on them.
They are ranked #1 over all other performance tires in PowerCar mag.
The Toyo Proxies came in 8th place.

Just a few minutes ago I placed an order for a set of Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac SUV. I'm very impressed with the non-SUV version of these tires. I have them on my Infiniti G35 coupe. SUV version gets good reviews on the net too.

I paid slightly less than $900 for a staggered 275/315 set for 214 wheels. This amount includes shipping.
Would you happen to know what the weight of a front and a rear tire is? I am looking at replacing my Dunlops with the Vreds.

I purchased the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport RFTs. Discount Tire matched Firestone's price of $1181 with TPMS +tax, installed. I wanted to stay with the RFT tire, and only had two choices. OE Dunlaps are expensive! Will let you know what I think of them.

What's been successful replacement tires for you who have done it with the E70 20's? Bridgestone Duellers? or something else.

Thanks!

I have a question. I was planning on purchasing non RFTs, and let my friend who also has an e70 X5 with 20's know my thoughts. Yesterday he had a nail in his tire and the dealer told him he needed to buy a new one. He called me and I told him we could just put a plug in it and call it a day. Winds up the nail didn't penetrate the tire all the way through and we didn't have to plug.

But I digress.

The dealer told him that if you don't replace the tires with run flats, the TPMS would constantly default and that BMW couldn't reset it to a non-run flat.

Not true?

I have had both Bridgestones & Dunlops on my E70's and the Dunlops are the quieter of the RFT's.

TPMS works off tyre rotation (ABS) in Australia, so you can run RFT's or normal tyres!

My advice is to not involve dealer in tire decisions. Their profit margin on tires is very large. And, normally they are not willing to repair a tire, instead saying "it's unrepairable."

There is a lot of confusion surrounding RFTs and TPMS. The easy answer is that Yes, the TPMS system only monitors tire pressure, and that's it. It doesn't care what kind of tire it's monitoring.

I replaced my Dunlop runflats with Vredestien Ultrac Sensanta 20". What a difference! The ride is so much smoother and bumps don't send my kidney's into a frenzy. I have had them on for about a week and notice a substantial ride improvement over the runflats. My wife even commented on the ride difference and she did not know I switched tires. Handling has not suffered. Cornering is excellent, perhaps a little softer side wall. However, responsiveness is still A+. The tires are very sticky and twists and turns are effortless with no sign of slippage. I have owed several different performance vehicles with different set ups with UHP tires and I would say these tires are in my top three. Another thing is the tramlining has been reduced to almost nothing and I have had no hydroplaning on wet road and higher speed splash throughs. If you are contemplating on switching from the runflats to non-runflats I would highly recommend you check these out. You won't look back.
