Body Vents No Air Flow
I have lived with it and just had the software program updated and the next day it came back. Of course the pat answer is user error so I took it in right then and they said yes not right and we need to call the factory as we have never seen it before. Wondering if someone had the same problem. I thought I had heard about condensation on a connection causing issues but it must be a rare problem. |

For those wondering. After a software update and assuming air blows somewhere but it is a lack of direction issue it comes down to the climate ecu but they called it something else. Basically the unit you play with the controls is a module and they just swap it out.
I found it odd my service advisor did not know that hitting max air overrides other controls and sends cold air flow only out the body vents. Good way to see if something is amiss. I had to read it from the manual for him to believe me. I gather it is pretty rare. |

Slow BMW Service Reponse
This is more a general question. As above my X5 has had an issue since new but I have lived with it until I needed a battery replacement which in itself is odd after only 2 years.
The air vents have never worked and the dealer wants to replace the control module but BMW NA is balking. They had them check for water in a small motor though the vin run was not right for the TSB on this issue. I even recall reading about condensation being a problem on some but not my VIN. After three days in a 328I my x5 is no closer to being ready that last week. Is this typical with BMW NA dragging it’s feet rather than fix the problem.I have already talked to them and the dealer says it is now all politics. Maybe I am best to lemon it and go for something else . |

I took mine in last week with one of the issues being high fan speed sound, even with settings set to soft, and it turned out to be something to do with the rear settings. I don't know how the settings changed but all of a sudden I had a very loud sound coming from the air conditioning system when it was set to it's lowest setting. I felt kind of stupid when they showed me that it was only a setting that was set too high for the rear. I thought I'd been all through the setting in the I-drive but I must have missed that one. Also, I don't know how it changed in the first place because it's been fine up until now. I must have accidently changed something.

On air setting if you changed FOBs or keys it will do that.
Mine is way beyond settings. I know BMWNA wants to get by as cheap as possible but since it has never worked right consistantly I would think they would want to fix it quickly and completly. It is not my fault they made a defective unit. I asked about a trade asist today as I would rather have a 535XI thinking the German BMW cars might have better QA. |

Since some are looking at the thread they think it is a vapor sensor. It has been a long process for nothing but no air flow but I think this is a rare issue as tech and the dealer talk daily and have runs plenty of tests.
I received a nice call today from NJ and are very sesitive to the pain in the rear factor. I did have to complain a bit to get a reaction but it is all positive. Not sure about you guys but when your BMW does something wrong and you know it has an issue but it will not do it while in service you get this look like you have no idea what you are doing. User error glance. We all not all seeing andnhearing things that re not real. |
