1) open sunroof
2) spray water on sensor

notice results

So does it open it back up when the sun starts shining?

Seriously does this feature only apply to the sunroof being "open" (as in slid back) or does it also apply to the sunroof being "tilted up" for ventilation.

FWIW we kept the sun roof on our 2001 X5 "tilted up" nearly the whole 8.5 years we owned it. It great reduced the heat build up when parked outside and only rarely let water into the cabin (e.g. hard slanting rains). Off course occasionally we had the stray wren get in and set off the alarm. Which scared the poop out of the wren and on to our leather seats In fact the mian reason we locked the X5 was to be notified of avian intruders I don't suppose the new X5s have a bird entry sensor, but you never know

Funf Dreisig

p.s. I ask because our new X5 is only a build number.

hmm, wouldn't the vehicle have to be turned on for the sensor to be working? Otherwise hello battery drain...

it would be a tres cool feature though.
