Aero Kit - primed or painted?

Hey guys

I am planning to install Aero kit in my X5. I noticed in the pdf instructions (attached here) that there are two options for the Aero Kit- primer coated (part# 51190413824) and painted (part# 51190413823). I looked up the prices for these and the price difference is not significant. This leads me to believe that the painted aero kit comes pre-painted from BMW.

1. Has anyone purchased a pre-painted Aero kit for their X5? If I buy primed and get it painted, the total cost will probably be the same as pre-painted kit and also the overall finish might not be as good as the factory painted kit.

2. Are the pre-painted kits available in all body colors or any particular color?

Thanks in advance...!

I tried 4 dealerships to purchase the painted kit. Each one said they could not find one, and would have to order it from BMW Germany, which would add to the cost. I would have preferred that kit because it would have saved me the money at a local paint shop, and had the warranty from BMW on peeling. Good Luck!

Very true...thats what I am not sure about.
The painted kit is costing around $1300 online and seems like a good option. I'll try to find out more information about it and will post here...
If anyone has more information about it, then please let us know...

I'll be installing just the middle(center) front piece from the aero kit. It should come out looking like the decorative skid plate for the E53. I'll be painting it titanium silver, cost should be a little over $200.

Something like this? http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...light=aero+kit

I am still debating whether to paint the front middle portion in silver...the above X5 looks amazing, but need to see something like that in real before I can take that decision.

So are you installing only the middle portion or all the parts with the front middle in silver?

Yes, just like that but minus the side pieces (center piece only). Piece of cake mod.... I'm also working on a custom removable cover piece for the tow hitch, it'll be sweet.

Any particular reason for not utilizing the side pieces?
Tow hitch cover sounds cool...upload the pictures when you are done!
