side airbags?

does the E70 have both front & rear SIDE airbags or is it just the front? It sounds like just the front from the manual although it doesn't state or show exactly where they are.

*Joke* rh71. Where you looking on Kelly Blue Book to see how much your car is worth? I'm just saying cuz "both front & rear side airbags" was one of the options on KBB.com while I was trying to see what my car was worth. I was trying to determine if I could go from my 4.8 to a X5M or 35d.

I don't think the X5 has rear-side airbags. It does have front-side and "Front- and rear-compartment Head Protection System (HPS)".

It's shown in the manual on page 97 *2008 Owners Manual*.

^ heh that's exactly what I was doing. Trying to gauge depreciation on these things. And I'd also really like to know because of my kids in the back.

The newer BMWs including the E70 have rear side curtain airbags that descend from the headliner. The front passengers have curtain and seat-mounted airbags.

Door-mounted side airbags have lost in popularity. The only remnant of this is the E83 X3, which not coincidentally, is also the last "old generation" BMW. Today, the X3 still has front and (optional) rear door-mounted side airbags, in addition to the curtain airbags for all front and rear passengers.
