X5 Diesel 2009 GPS

Hi,
I live in Canada and recently road triped from Grand Prairie to Whistler and then down to Vancouver.
All systems functioned perfectly t\untill we hit Vancouver when the GPS navigation began to malfunction.
It repeatedly started to display the message "Error reading DVD" and "please insert disc " and the system repeatedly started to hang.
After repeatedly inserting and reinserting the DVD, the system would work but intermittenly.
Anyone with a similar problem?
The car is still under warranty with only 7000 km.

I'd check the DVD to make sure it is free of scratches, fingerprints, etc. If so, you may have a bad spot on the DVD. Could also be the drive, but with it being just one section of the maps the DVD would be my first suspect. If it is an easy error to duplicate (maybe by manually moving the focus of the map over to the trouble area?) you could show the dealer and see if they'll swap another disk in to see if that fixes it.

Your lucky, from Lac la Biche to Edmonton, the darn Nav doesn't give any routes or know your on a road. I'm increadibly disapointed with the mapping software and the available upgrades. BMW failed me big time!

I back up my DVDs for this reason. I have backed up both my 135 and X5 and use that one in the car with no troubles. The originals I leave at home in their boxes. Backing one up vs replacement cost makes sense.
