Flicker Flicker Flicker.. Dead!

Ok, so this morning we to use the 2007 X5 and it just flickered some what crazily (all the lights on the dash, and such)... No start. So we tried it again and this time it did it again, but a bit less "violently".. 3rd time the wiper came on "slow motion" and the car died.

My question is this... Doesn't the X5 have a feature that protects the battery from drain should someone leave a light on inside? Or could my kid of wife have left a light on and killed our battery?

Anyone know? thanks

Sam

Strange, usually maximum after 15 minutes it shuts of everything besides alarm ;-) so not sure what caused your battery to die, maybe you left bright lights on???

I have the similar problem, wipe came on "slow motion" after couple started and also all the lighs on and off (like disco lighting ) and then completely died. I thought this stupid 1 day old X5 is going be died but turned out was drained battery. Jump start and work fine since then.

Exclamation

Same problem and the solution was the alternator. Seems the OEM alternator was not putting out enough current to recharge battery and over time battery drain was inevitable. Following installation of new alternator by the service department, deep cylce recharge of the battery, diagonostics of all electrical systems to monitor amp usage, the X5 is ready to go again. Don't know if others that have experienced high battery drain have implemented this solution, but I would check with your service department as it fixed our ride.

The other possible cause to this is bad/loose battery connection. You can inspect it yourself - the battery is in the cargo compartment under the floor.
