Hi, apart from the costs, there is another issue:
I have a 50i LCI (prod.date 07/2010) and at least for this model (don't know about others, but assume that they are identical in this regard) the parts simply don't fit. The pads themselves are to be screwed onto the console mount (a part not shown in the drawing above, but rather here: RealOEM.com * BMW E70N X5 50iX Carrier, centre console ). However, that part in my car not only has no holes, but is also entirely flat so that the "arms" of the pads have nowhere to rest. As a result, you can't fit #10 into place. I assume that the mount in the X6/X5M has some "pits" or holes into which the "arms" of the pads and their screws go. I think the part in question is #51166954939 - but why on the other side this very part is also listed for the X5M is beyond me... They must be different. Nevertheless, I "fixed" this for my car. Took a saw and removed the front and back "arms" of the pads so that they no longer require the "pits". Disadvantage being that without the screws the pads are not as securely fixed as in the X6/X5M, but since they sit on part #1 (and the console mount below) and are held down by #10, they are imho rock stable anyway. Stability is, in my opinion, not an issue in any case because I never actually touch the pad with my knee, no matter how hard I try and no matter how loose I keep my leg ![]() /Thomas |

Sorry, I didn't take any pics during the modification. And I will certainly not take the whole thing apart again, sorry

Can you snaps some pics of the completed installed. Just want to see the fit and finish. I would never ask for you to recreate a DIY.

Well, the finished result looks like the original installation in an X6 or X5M. Here is a pic.

Well, since I had no idea that the parts needed modification, about half an hour including the time it took to figure out how to do it. Sawing away the unneeded parts then took max 5 mins, the jigsaw went through the plastic like a knife through butter. I recommend protecting the leather during this process, since the jigsaw might touch it accidently, and it's easily damaged. The most complicated part was fitting #10. Since this part is very wide in the rear end and easily collides with the cup holders' rear end, I had to fiddle a bit to get back in. But no big deal.
If someone posts a picture of the "raw" knee pad part(s), I can show you what parts exactly I cut off. /Thomas |

Sorry, misread the last post... Well, you need part #10 and the two pads. I bought the stuff last fall already, I don't recall. Wasn't too cheap, tough.
