Well dealer said they would charge me actual labor time but estimated it at 2hrs. I would rather pay them 2hrs and get it done than spend the whole weekend messing around with it! I have it booked in for next week. I will post pics when completed...

Dealer quoted $1200 to $1400 Ausi Dollars for changing mine over to the ///M type when I asked a few months ago

$1200 sounds about right but still a little high for parts, painting and labor to install. $1400 is a rip!

I just got my new M sport roof rails! They used to make them just primed, but now they only come in aluminium silver. They are not just painted silver, they really are aluminium!

This makes it very difficult to paint. While you could paint them, my body shop guy said it will peel off in a year or two (even with a special primer) especially if I ever snapped on a roof rack. Aluminium however is the best candidate for powder-coating! So I am getting them powder coated to match the high gloss shadowline trim. Should be ready this week. Dealer said a couple of hours labor to install...
Anodizing them would work too, since their aluminum. It's probably cheaper to powder coat them though. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out!
