I have them, also wear suit to work, and have no problems with getting my pants dirty
You will get used to them very fast. You are taller than me, you should have even less issues (longer legs).One thing to note - without RBs, it is hard to reach roof for washing, putting things on rails, etc. I strongly recommend them !

You do get used to them. I don't think there is a big difference between the overhangs. The running boards on the E53s came out much further than the stock black trim. The E70 running boards are not as bad.
