adaptive drive should be good, but common, i have my 04 X with no sport package and still love the ride and handling... are you thinking of racing your X?

with Tech pagkage, you get a lot of stuff cheaper than paying for just the adaptive drive...

No, not racing it, but so many people here rave about it. I read this thread where a guys did not get the adaptive drive, and then later wanted to lower his X5 with H&R springs to get better handling, and everyone bashed on him for not getting the adaptive drive to begin with. They made it seem like it was the most important option to get. That being said, if having to choose between tech and adaptive drive, I was thinking of possibly getting the tech, and lowering my X in the future if someone comes out with struts/shocks to go with the springs. Would anyone agree with this plan???

I would agree. You can't add the Tech Package later.
99% of BMW buyers do not use forums or message boards, and most likely don't care about sport suspension. The 1% that do care are on boards like these, and will rave about the suspension. Is it nice to have? Yes. Is it necessary for everyday driving? Not in my opinion. Would I get it if I could fit it in my budget? Why not. But there are too many other options that I wanted.

TECH PACKAGE. Get bigger wheels and stickier tires and everythings fine, and you can always upgrade your suspension with parts that aren't electronically controlled later. I think my non sport X5 3.0i from 2006 would be a lot "tighter" with 177's and some stiffer springs, but after owning a touareg with a computer suspension, NEVER worth it, especially at that price.

And yes 128i is too slow, I'm competing with my friends and their stupid supercharged mustangs here! I'm thinking more 335xi though. 1's too small in the back for the things I need to use it for... And I might need my snowboard rack again

Yes, I think I have finalized my list of options, thanks for all the help guys.

Premium Pkg
Sport Activity Pkg
Technology Pkg
Ipod/usb adapter
Running Boards
3rd row seat
Roof Rails

After delivery add ons:

RES Dual System (dual screens in headrests)
Fender Flares
20" Style 214's

I am working with a new dealership that is selling to me at $1500 above invoice plus destination and handling and TTL. All filler costs are included in the $1500. This is why my budget has increased slightly

The dealer is willing to give me add ons at cost, so I am planning to get the RES Dual System, fender flares and 20's with the trade in of my 19's. It all depends on price, but they seem willing to work with me to get the deal done...wish me luck!

Yeah but if you want OEM 20" or 21" wheels and tires you are going to pay probably $3K-$5K I'm guessing so why not just get Adaptive.

I am going to get wheels regardless, I must have at least 20's or maybe 21's. I would purchase the 21's but the reason I am hesitant is because there is only one tire out that fits these wheels (no know competition yet) and they cost $500 plus each. The 20's are more common and can be found used or as take-offs, and tires are much more affordable, they even look damn good but the problem is too many people have them. Replicas are not an option for me.

I am hoping to work a deal where I can trade in my 19's that come with the Sports Activity Pkg and pay up to $2000 towards the 20's from the dealer. I know their cost is lower than the retail price they charge for these wheels.

Get rep 177's. The 35d ZAP wheels are nice enough though, I just meant bigger than the 17's that I have on mine.

Drove 2009 X5 3.0i w/o Sport Package but w/ Comfort Seat. To my surprise, it's actually ride harder than my 4.8i w/ Sport Package and 214 wheels w/ Sport Seat and the Sport button is always on.

Just my $0.02.
