Dunlop or Bridgestone 20" Tires?

In the 20" sizes (275/40/20 and 315/35/20), the Front/Rear prices are:

Dunlop Sp Sport Maxx RFT are $426/$523
Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport RFT are $283/$302

That's a huge difference on price.

Dunlop's are "Max Performance Summer" while Bridgestone's are "Street/Sport Truck Summer." The descriptions seem to favor Dunlop's in performance.

Anyone with experience with both that can weigh in?

It depends on a variety of conditions. If you do not mind going through tires every 10-15K miles and having the best grip for our 20"ers, then go with the Dunlaps. They were my stock tires, which were gone in 12-15K (actually, gone before than, but dealt with the rumbling till 22K.) If someone can weigh in here, I believe the X5 M/// are stocking Bridges...

However, if saving some money, extending the life of your tires (anywhere between 5K-10K more in miles,) and do not mind only the slightest difference in dry weather performance, go with the Bridge's... The noise will be there on either tire. For a no noise tire, an all-season will do, but those only come in non-runflat.

I just switched to the Bridgestones after 18k on my OEM Dunlops- mainly because of price. Don't see any difference in performance. Both ride somewhat hard-neither makes a whole lot of noise when they are new. I'll go Bridgestone again.

I think a lot of people are complaining about the Bridgestones when they are more worn. Supposedly a lot noiser then.

I personally don't have experience with the Bridgestones yet.

But with the Dunlops, I've noticed that a lot of it has to do with the roads that your on. Where I drive, the Dunlops are pretty quiet. I'm at 15K now. Fronts mostly worn out while the rears are a lot better.

Don't the Bridgestone's last longer too?

Are you driving hard enough to need higher performance tires on an SUV? Save some time and money by getting the Bridgestones.

I have had 4 x X5's and a combination of all different brands of tyres I have found the Dunlops in 20's better than the Bridgestones, quieter and better grip and I am a hard driver. Dunlop RFT are also repairable and I have noticed that they give you a little better rim protection as well, they must be a fraction wider, thus they balloon a little more in the sidewall.

I have done on this new X5 7500klm and no noticable wear at this point, 20" are a wide tyre and wear better than the 19".
