If its the button behind the gear change lever then it tightens up the electronic sway bars automatically so you have less body roll, the x5 stay flat going round & thru corners. The harder you drive around corners the more tension is applied to the X5 level.

It has also been reported to increase throttle response..

I thought the button was for the suspension and putting the shifter to the left into sports mode is what affects the throttle response. But I'm just a girl, what do I know.

the only documentation on the sport button itself (not the shifter) states it affects suspension only. In my opinion this is true because if you don't get the sports package (adaptive drive) then you don't get the sport button. Adaptive drive only affects the suspension (also documented).

But I've seen another thread that indicates there is some throttle correlation (actually you were part of it too!!). I always thought it was just for the suspension, but could swear I read it alters throttle response as well.... but what do I know..I'm only a guy...

I was part of that other thread, too, and I think it was just speculation that the sport button affected throttle response. No one was ever able to find any written documentation.
Putting the transmission in sport mode is, perhaps, a different story.

So for MY2010 ,when adaptive drive is no more part of sport package ,if you order only sport package you will not get sport button, right?

I would assume that is correct.
