I will be pissed if my X will come with a different trim, that's the point of ordering one and not buy from dealer lot so you can get it as you want it up to the smallest detail, right?Congrats and post some pics with your new ride!!!

Actually the wood trim is very hard to replace because of all the glue involved--it gets very messy and might not even look right after. Better off just sucking it up and ask the dealer to compensate somehow for it.

If I got bamboo that would've been too dark to match my saddle in my opinion. Light poplar and walnut are almost interchangeable so I would probably settle if it happened, but definitely not bamboo.

OP: were you given options upon noticing the wrong trim at delivery? Monday back? Re-order? Replace? Or did you just take it and say ok?

I agree that its the dealer cause I ordered my X5 35D (2009) from the dealer in Calgary and they were quite meticulous with the specifications when ordering. I had to triple check the check list before signing off and the car came loaded with all the right specs.
Its a pity I couldnt wait for the new I Drive though cause the old one needs a little computer experience to use it fully....something my 2 teenage boys find so cool.
enjoy the car...its fabulous!

The X5 uses glue? Wow. All the other BMWs I know have the trim held in place by clips and pins. I have yet to come across a part that uses glue aside from the headlamp assembly.

We also ordered the Bamboo. We pick up the car on the 4th of Nov ... Not sure about the glue but, we would just ask for the dealer to order (at no charge) the X5Ms Carbon Leather trim. I have it in my M3 and the Wife and I love it!

I don't think there is any glue involved:

They must have changed it from the e53 because I wanted the Dark Wood and it came with the Light (I didn't order it--it was new dealer stock that had just come in and had all the options I wanted except the wood color). They said the wood replacement would be a pain with the glue/adhesive involved.

Sorry, but I think they fibbed a little bit, to dissuade you from insisting on a change in wood color...
