Anyone using General Grabber UHP

Hi. I have posted before about noisy Bridgestone Run-flats. Now the fronts are down to 3 mm after 30,000 miles I am looking to replace with non-Run flats and put a space-saver spare under the rear floor.

I understand General Grabber are popular with large SUV's in the USA so has anyone tried them on the E70?

My sizes are 255/50 R19 fronts and 285/45 R19 rear. The speed/load ratings from General are ok and prices much lower than mainstream brands here in the UK. I am not looking for a high performance tyre, just one that is quieter and gives a softer ride than the Run-flats.

Thanks, richardl

Had it with my 2002 MB ML500. The tires were actually better than MB OEM Continental or Dunlop (for dry, wet, and snow tractions). They were slightly noisier than the OEM tires, but overall I was very happy with the tires.

I recall from prior days that General had issues with flatspotting. You may want to look into this.

I have the General Grabber HTS 18" tires on my 2008. Put them on around 18K ago after the bleeping run flats went south.

I have been very happy with them. Smoother ride than the run flats and excellent traction. Very nice tires.

Thanks for the response guys.

My tyre dealer is suggesting I try Hankook Ventus ST RH06 which are a little more expensive than the General UHP but he suggests better suited to the X5.
I have decided to take his advice and give them a try so am hoping for a softer, peaceful ride for the next 2-3 years.

Will post some feedback on these non-runflats in a few months.

just put a set on the kid's suburban. they seem fine and Consumer Reports speaks highly of them for what that is worth.

i have been running Toyo Proxes ST II s for about 6k miles and really like them. more money than the Generals however.
